The Brown Family Reunion will be here before we know it.  We are hoping to see a lot of you there.  We have heard from some of you but we would love to hear from a lot more if possible.  If you haven't let us know yet, please do so as soon as possible.

We reserved the campground so we will need those who come to enjoy the beautiful group campground and facilities to pay also even if you don't spend the night  to help cover the cost.

Facilities:       $15.00
Food: $20.00 12 and over
$10.00 under 12
2 and under free

So, for example Darrel's family of 2 adults and 4 kids (11, 9, 4, and 5 months) would cost $15 for facilities and $60 for food (2 adults at $20 + 2 kids at $10).  To simplify things we decided to not break the prices down per-day or per-meal.  The good news is that if you come for the whole time you get a great deal!

We want to see everyone there so let us know if the price is too high for your family.  It's way more important that we see you there.

Check in time is 3:00 p.m. on Friday.  Check out time is 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.  We will have dinner Friday; breakfast, lunch and dinner Saturday; cold cereal breakfast and lunch fixings on Sunday.

For those who would like to attend Sacrament meeting, Harvey's church is not too far and there is a church close to the campground.  The meeting times are 9:00 a.m., 11:00, a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  Harvey's Sacrament meeting begins at 11:00 a.m.

As you know, our theme is "Brown's Got Talent".  We know that there is so much talent in the Brown family.  We want to get to know you better by learning what your talents are in different areas.  We have planned activities for you to demonstrate your talents.

Friday night is movie night.  If you have a DVD of talent from your family, please bring it to share.  If we get several, we may have to vote on which ones to watch.

Saturday we will have a table for things that people have made that they can display like pictures, quilts, sewing items, sculptures, pottery, etc.  If you can't bring them, you can bring a picture of them.

Saturday night you get to show everyone your Dutch Oven cooking talent!  We are having a DUTCH OVEN COOK OFF!  If you would like to participate, please let us know what you would like to cook so we can plan other things to go with the meal.  Please bring the ingredients and everything you need for your own dish.  There is a grocery store in Hyrum if you need to purchase any fresh ingredients.  If you need a dutch oven or charcoal briquettes, let us know.  There will be a prize for the winner.

After the meal Saturday, we will have the talent show.  There is a place with benches and electricity at the campground which will be perfect for performing talent.  For the talent show, we would like each "Brown brother family" to present about 15 minutes of performance time.  It will be a bit of a fun variety show of sorts - so have fun with it!

There will be an art yard set up for anyone to practice and show your creativity talent.  If you have anything you think people could create with, please bring it.  Some things might be washable paints, different kinds of paper, markers, any art supplies, or any beautiful junk that you think people would like to create with.

Other activities available are: volleyball, horseshoes, swimming, boating (if someone brings a boat), and just visiting and enjoying each other's company.  There are rentals for jet skis and other items.

We will send information later on how to get to the Hyrum dam group campsite.

Please send a check to Richard or Kathleen.

We are so excited for this year's reunion!  It will be so wonderful to see everyone again.  We hope you all will be able to attend.  We have reserved a large campground site at Hyrum Dam with plenty of room for tents and RVs, although there are no hookups.  There are showers available.  We encourage you to camp there at the campground because we did pay quite a bit to reserve it and it will be nice to spend more time together.

We need to get a count of how many are planning to attend in order to figure out how much money each family will need to pay.  Please let us know, by March 29th, how many family members will attend and whether you will be using tents or RVs.  Please encourage your family members to attend.

We have lots of fun activities planned, such as swimming, boating, games, volleyball, an art yard, talent show, etc.  For the talent show (which will most likely be held at a church house nearby) we would like each "Brown brother family" to present about 15 min. of performance time.  It will be a bit of a fun variety show of sorts - so have fun with it!

More information to come later.  Please contact Darrel Brown asap with a count of who is coming @ darrel.brown@gmail.com.

See you all soon!

2011 Brown Family Reunion

Hello Brown Family!!!!
Uncle Richard had a great idea that someone should create a family blog so that everyone can go to the same place and get updates about our family members, family reunion information, or just have it a place where we can post great things happening in our families!

The Rex and Charlene Brown kids are planning the 2011 Family Reunion. And this year's reunion will not be like our traditional family reunions. Instead, we are incorporating Rex and Charlene's 50th wedding anniversary and we want everyone to start planning NOW so they can attend!

The reunion will be held July 8, 9, & 10th in Meridian, Idaho. We will begin with our family get-together BBQ dinner on the 8th at Kevin & Elizabeth's House from 6-10pm. Address for Mapquest is 2400 W. Wapoot Dr, Meridian, ID 83646. Please park on Wapoot or Goddard Creek and walk up. The pool will be open for those kids that want to swim!!!

Saturday we will be at Dianne's Stake Center for daytime activities AND the Anniversary party. Pancake breakfast at 9am, and lunch at 12 noon. We'll have bounce houses, water slides and an obstacle course to play on. The stake center has a softball field and a pavillion for shade. The TACO TRUCK is coming that day to give us tasty tacos for lunch. Bring your sunblock for a DAY OF FUN!!! Plenty of snacks/drinks for everyone! At 3pm, we will break so everyone can get ready for the Anniversary Party. The arty is from 7-9. Everyone will be on their own for dinner, as we will only be serving desserts.

Sunday morning church is from 11-2 at Rex & Charlene's Ward and we encourage everyone to stay for all 3 meetings. Light lunch to follow prior to departure.

The host hotel is the Marriott Springhill Suites in Meridian, corner of Chinden and Cloverdale, just 2 miles from all the action.. We have blocked out rooms for you so please tell them you are booking with the Brown Reunion/50th Wedding Anniversary. Here is the link: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/boish-springhill-suites-boise/. Each room is only $75. YOU WILL LOVE THIS HOTEL! It has a great indoor pool, each room sleeps a maximum of 5 adults, each room has a sofa sleeper, refrigerators, microwaves and blow dryers. Nearby stores to this hotel: Target, Burger King, A&W/KFC, Jack In The Box, Walgreens, Gas, etc. The cutoff date to reserve your room is June 24th so PLEASE BOOK YOUR ROOMS NOW!!

Other family members in the valley to bunk with are Joel & Sharon, Forest, Karen, Dianne, Liz, and Rex & Charlene.

We are asking that you please RSVP for the reunion by May 15th as we are planning for so many people, both family and friends! Questions, post them here. Liz's home #888.9271. We look forward to seeing you in July!

P.S. Rex & Charlene's Home, Liz's Home (we both live in the same subdivision), Dianne's Home, The Stake Center, and the Hotel are all within 4 miles of each other. So everything should be very convenient for you to get around to!
